Dr Miles Watkins appointed as BRE Business Development Director

Dr Miles Watkins has joined BRE to take up the key new position of Group Business Development Director. Miles will lead on formulating commercial strategies for the organisation that will further strengthen its presence in the UK and in its core overseas markets.

A professional environmentalist with an outstanding career, Dr Watkins spent 17 years at Aggregate Industries before joining BRE. His final role was as Director of Sustainable Construction, where his responsibilities included marketing, safety, innovation and external and internal communications. In his new role, his focus will be on enhancing ways of supporting customers, with an emphasis on meeting their needs and adding further value across all services.


NW Bicester recognised for excellence in design

altThe team behind the first phase, Exemplar, of the NW Bicester eco-development has been recognised by CEEQUAL for its level of environmental and social performance in its work.

Achieving 94 per cent, with an ‘Excellent’ rated Whole Project Award with Interim, lead developers, A2Dominion and design and engineering consultants, Hyder Consultancy have been praised for the innovation and design shown in Exemplar which goes beyond the standard development practice.


Environment Minister meets nature conservation leaders

altNational leaders in nature conservation met the Minister for Natural Environment and Fisheries in the New Forest National Park to visit projects working to improve the rare landscape.

Richard Benyon MP joined the England Biodiversity Stakeholder Group to tour the Bisterne Estate near Ringwood, hosted by the New Forest National Park Authority in conjunction with the Bisterne Farms Estate.


New Forest come out top in Hampshire Commuter Challenge

altStaff at the New Forest National Park Authority and New Forest District Council have each won an award after leaving their cars at home and travelling to work by walking, cycling and catching a train.

The New Forest National Park Authority finished top of the leaderboard in the medium organisation category of My Journey Hampshire’s Commuter Challenge. New Forest District Council came first in the large organisation category based on staff at its Appletree Court offices.
