For size reduction of sample materials which cannot be processed at room temperature, the CryoMill from RETSCH (Germany) is the ideal choice. An integrated cooling system ensures that the grinding jar is continually cooled with liquid nitrogen before and during the grinding process. Thus the sample is embrittled and volatile components are preserved. An Autofill System provides liquid nitrogen in the required amount so that the user never gets into direct contact with the LN2 which makes operating the mill particularly safe.

Shimadzu (Germany), one of the worldwide specialist manufacturers of analytical instrumentation, has launched the HS-20 gas chromatography headspace sampler for accurate analysis of an even wider range of volatile compounds with boiling points ranging from low to high. The HS-20 heats liquid or solid samples sealed in a container to a specific temperature, and injects the volatile compounds diffusing into the gaseous phase into a GC or a GCMS. These systems are widely used in the fields of environmental and pharmaceutical applications as well as in materials and food products analysis and forensics. The HS-20 will support these analyses particularly in testing and inspection organisations.

The new compact photometer PF-3 is the youngest member of the MACHEREY-NAGEL (Germany) photometer family. The instrument is the logical addition to our product portfolio and perfectly fits our tradition of reliability, user friendliness and innovation.
As the PF-3 will be equipped with three different wavelengths, it will be available in multiple versions. The first one will comprise the classic swimming pool parameters (chlorine, pH, cyanuric acid, total alkalinity). In the near future, more versions will come to market, enabling additional applications in different areas and industries. All instruments will be able to read both our proven VISOCOLOR ECO tests as well as our high-end NANOCOLOR tube tests.

Keeping a close eye on project costs is key in the construction industry. For a corporate project owner, better visibility into the budget could be a top priority in the year to come. With advances in software, owners have more options including the ability to manage multiple budgets within a single project.
Take this as one example: A single site such as a retail store can have separate budgets for remodels and other special projects. As such, software needs to be able to manage these distinct budgets.
To meet this need, Systemates, www.systemates.com, Dallas, Texas, recently announced upgrades to its Projectmates software. In Projectmates 12.0, users can manage multiple and distinct budgets within a single project.

Hiden Analytical (UK) introduce a new and novel cuvette style interface for the Hiden HPR-40 membrane inlet mass spectrometer (MIMS) series. Specifically engineered for the researcher investigating gaseous species generated by algal photo-responsive reactions, the cuvette is engineered to be both flexible and user maintainable and features inert materials throughout.
Concentric transparent acrylic cylinders, sealed by a removable base and cap, form an inner reactor zone with an outer sleeve, the latter to enable thermally stable water to be re-circulated to maintain a uniform reactor temperature. A magnetically driven impeller, located close to the integrated membrane surface, maintains overall media consistency.

Newly-formed SGX Sensortech Limited (UK) has cemented its recent multi-million pound acquisition of the instrumentation solutions business from e2v Technologies PLC with a move to new premises for one of its UK divisions.
The Industrial Gas Sensors division of SGX, the leading designer and manufacturer of gas sensors and x-ray detectors, has relocated from the site it occupied on Waterhouse Lane in Chelmsford for the last 50 years.
The move has seen the entire team transfer to a (8,500 sq ft) factory specifically modified to cater for sensor production on Hanbury Road in Chelmsford.
