The School of Life Sciences (SLS) is an international centre of excellence in interdisciplinary research and teaching. SLS is a BBSRC strategic partner department, but also works with MRC, NERC, EPSRC, the Wellcome Trust, and other UK and international funding organisations to pursue its research programmes.
The breadth of cutting-edge research in SLS underpins teaching programmes exploring the full range of bioscience. The School was ranked second in the UK for Agriculture, Food and Veterinary research in the Government's 2014 research ranking exercise. Overall more than 80% of life sciences research was rated as 'World Leading or Internationally Excellent'.
