The University of Nottingham offers both undergraduate and postgraduate environmental courses across a number of schools and departments.
School of Biosciences
The School of Biosciences offers undergraduate courses in environmental science. It is the UK's strongest teaching and research centre for fundamental and applied biological, agricultural, environmental and food sciences. Students are taught by world-class specialists, many of whom are expert advisers to national and international bodies.The school has extensive links with companies and institutions working in the field of biosciences nationally and internationally, helping ensure our courses are relevant to industry.
School of Geography
The School of Geography offers courses in environmental geoscience at undergraduate level, and environmental management at postgraduate level. Teaching in the school is led by internationally excellent research, with extensive resources and excellent support enabling students to fulfil their potential – in the last five years, over 90% of graduates have gained a first or upper-second-class degree.
School of Law
The School of Law is ranked 4th among UK law schools by The Times Good University Guide and ranked consistently highly for overall student satisfaction in the National Student Survey. The school is a leading centre for research as well as teaching, and was ranked 6th in terms of research power among UK law schools in the latest Research Excellence Framework. The school offers a postgraduate qualification in environmental law.
Department of Chemical and Environmental Engineering
Students studying in our Department of Chemical and Environmental Engineering are supported by a team of engineers and scientists with extensive teaching and industrial experience. Industry engagement and industrial placementsare a key feature of the courses, as well as a hands-on approach, taking place in extensive laboratory facilities. The department offers undergraduate courses in environmental engineering.
Department of Civil Engineering
Teaching in the Department of Civil Engineering is underpinned by world-leading research – engineering at Nottingham has been ranked 3rd in the UK for quality and impact of research in the 2014 Research Excellence Framework. Civil engineering students can apply to study for part of their degree at our campuses in China and Malaysia. The department offers a postgraduate course in environmental management and earth observation.
