In 2013, Huairou District will invest 500 million yuan (US$80.06 million) in 55 environment projects in order to improve its overall levels of urban and rural environment, according to the 2013 Huairou Environmental Meeting on February 17.

By the end of 2013, the main venue of Yanqi Lake ecological demonstration zone will be put into use and will serve as the venue of huge international meetings. Huairou District government launches the four aspects of environment construction and decided this year as the year of environment renovation to make the environment of the district good enough for the venue.

The four aspects of environmental renovation construction are city environment, order environment, facility environment and ecological environment, covering a total of 55 projects. Liu Jiugang, vice chief of Huairou District, said the construction will focus on two routes: The main route from Huairou Exit (No.14) of Beijing - Chengde Highway to Yanqi Lake ecological demonstration zone, and the supporting route from Kuangou Exit (No.13) Beijing - Chengde Highway to Yanqi Lake ecological demonstration zone.

The government will finish cleaning and renovations of attractions and old communities on the two routes. Famous attractions such as Mutianyu Great Wall, Hongluo Temple and Sleepless Valley will gain a completely new look.
