Specifiers looking to maximise the energy efficiency of their clients’ central heating system should choose a magnetic filter before considering anything else, according to Eclipse Magnetics.

As well as improving energy efficiency by up to 6%, specifying a magnetic filter such as BoilerMag combats the problem of ferrous oxide or black sludge and in doing so avoids radiator cold spots, poor circulation, blocked pipes, excessive noise, frequent breakdowns and premature pump wear.

Once installed, BoilerMag, which utilises powerful rare earth magnets, extracts virtually all ferrous oxide and non-magnetic scale it has no running costs and requires no consumables.

“Quite simply, fitting a magnetic filter is one of the most cost effective ways of gaining up to an additional 6% energy efficiency from a heating system, and that means it can pay for itself within a very short space of time,” said Steve McAllorum, Sales Director at Eclipse Magnetics.

He added: “It’s quick and easy to fit and clients don’t need to worry about ongoing costs. All that is needed as a clean, a process that takes only a few minutes, and this can be carried out during the annual boiler service.”

With unique Dual Flow Technology™and patented high intensity magnetic core, BoilerMag is a market leading means of removing ferrous oxide (black sludge) from heating systems. And, because of the innovative magnetic circuit design, pioneered by Eclipse’s specialist magnet designers, the high performance system can never block.

As not all contaminants are ferrous, BoilerMag also incorporates a specially designed non-block mesh barrier to ensure that non-magnetic debris such as scale is captured, in addition to the ferrous oxide.
In combination, these unique, high performance features set BoilerMag apart from other filters currently available.

BoilerMag is designed to fit standard 22 or 28mm pipe sizes and its 360° adjustment enables it to be specified on any angle of pipe-work. The full Eclipse range comprises of BoilerMag domestic (22mm & 28mm), BoilerMagXL for commercial projects with 1½” fittings, and BoilerMagXT, which incorporates 2” to 6" fittings for large industrial premises.

Eclipse Magnetics is unique within the heating system filter market in manufacturing its own magnetic technology in-house, guaranteeing performance of this critical element. It is also the only company to offer a dedicated range of filters for domestic, commercial and industrial applications.

Eclipse has been manufacturing high performance magnets for nearly 100 years.
