IoD Director of the Year for Jacqueline O’Donovan

Jacqueline O’Donovan, managing director of O’Donovan Waste Disposal, has been named as the Institute of Directors (IoD) Director of the Year in the family business category at the annual awards event.

Taking place in an online format this year, the awards ceremony was streamed from the IoD’s headquarters on Pall Mall. This particular award recognises individuals in family businesses who have responded to the specific challenges that face directors in family companies and who have contributed to the success of the diverse, dynamic and innovative family business sector.

Bradfords takes to the stage on sustainability

Bradfords Building Supplies is launching ‘Building Sustainable Communities’ – an innovative new series of events aimed at inspiring, informing and engaging the South West on achieving long term environmental and social sustainability for the built environment.

Created in partnership with TrustMark, the inaugural event will take place on 24 November at Somerset County Cricket Club and will address the challenges in achieving energy efficient, low environmental impact building projects and the latest in environmentally responsible products and materials.

O'Donovan Waste named as winner at the prestigious British Demolition Awards

O’Donovan Waste have been awarded a British Demolition Award having been named as the Waste Provider of the Year at the recent awards ceremony organised by Chambers Media which took place at the AMEX stadium in Brighton. The evening was a resounding success and showcased the best of British demolition with ten trophies across the categories which recognised innovation, health and safety as well as environmental performance.

The awards, now in its third year, brought together national and international companies from across the demolition industry to celebrate commitment, progress and achievements made in the sector.

As consumers become increasingly aware of environmental issues and concerned about how the products they buy are sourced, produced and packaged, sustainability has risen up the corporate agenda. However, the definition of sustainability is rapidly evolving to encompass the entire product lifecycle – from raw materials sourcing to processing, to delivery to the retailer and the ultimate consumer, and finally to disposal/recycling. The way consumers view plastic has radically changed and will increase the use of recyclable and bio-based packaging.

This more encompassing view of sustainability and the move towards a circular economy will require greater collaboration between suppliers, manufacturers, Governments, retailers and consumers.

O'Donovan Waste presented with Training Award at the Construction News Specialists Awards

The team at O’Donovan Waste have won the Training category at the competitive Construction News Specialists Awards. The annual awards showcase talent from up and down the construction industry’s supply chain. Over the 16 years of the event, work highlighted by the awards has enabled collaborations between specialist innovators and major clients. The industry event took place as a virtual event this year and saw a number of prestigious awards given across 20 categories.

An expert panel of over 60 judges, including representatives from each of the top 25 biggest UK contractors adjudicated the only national awards recognising the outstanding achievements of specialist contractors.
