Energy and water wastage could reduce by 10% in Leicester’s public buildings as a result of new project. As part of its commitment to research that has an impact on the public good, a new project by De Montfort University (DMU) aims to reduce energy, gas and water wastage in public buildings across the city of Leicester.

Leicester City Council (LCC) has joined forces with environmental experts at DMU to create the Smartspaces project, which will potentially save up to 10% of energy use.

We are becoming increasingly aware of the steep rise in energy costs and our own environmental responsibilities - this is persuading us to consider making our homes more energy efficient. Many of us have already started to look at ways to improve the efficiency of our homes, by insulating our lofts and cavity walls, installing low energy light bulbs, replacing ill-fitting, single glazed windows & doors and if not already in place, would have considered purchasing a smart meter to tell us how much or little energy we are using, in a bid to change our lifestyle habits (and reduce our energy bills!)

The new, improved Daikin Altherma LT split range of air to water heat pumps, from Space Air Solutions of Guildford, is not only more efficient than the range it replaces but has achieved accreditation to Appendix Q of SAP. Daikin Altherma products and Space Air Solutions are also MCS Accredited.

The Space Air Daikin Altherma air to water heat pump system has been designed and manufactured to simply replace the conventional fossil fuel boiler. MCS accredited, the Daikin Altherma is a compact, highly efficient, low carbon, low maintenance means of providing safe heating and/or hot water from the same system. Daikin Altherma is user friendly, offering up to 75% savings in energy consumption and reduction in CO2 emissions compared to gas, direct electric and oil boilers.
