New Addition to the Photometer Family

altThe new compact photometer PF-3 is the youngest member of the MACHEREY-NAGEL (Germany) photometer family. The instrument is the logical addition to our product portfolio and perfectly fits our tradition of reliability, user friendliness and innovation.

As the PF-3 will be equipped with three different wavelengths, it will be available in multiple versions. The first one will comprise the classic swimming pool parameters (chlorine, pH, cyanuric acid, total alkalinity). In the near future, more versions will come to market, enabling additional applications in different areas and industries. All instruments will be able to read both our proven VISOCOLOR ECO tests as well as our high-end NANOCOLOR tube tests.

Next-Generation Micro PMT Devices for Point-of-Care Testing and Other Applications

altHamamatsu Photonics K.K. (UK) has announced that from the 1st November 2012, it will begin shipping samples of its new μPMT (Micro PMT) assembly to manufacturers of analytical and measurement instruments.

The μPMT is a next-generation, ultra-compact photomultiplier tube that is fabricated through the use of in-house semiconductor processes for MEMS (micro-electro-mechanical systems) devices. It can be mass produced, is only 1/7th of the volume and 1/9th of the weight of the smallest conventional photomultiplier tube.

New Environmental Noise Calculation Software Version

altA powerful and intuitive software for environmental noise calculation has become available with Brüel & Kjær’s (UK) Predictor-LimA Type 7810, with more applications than ever thanks to the release of the ninth version.

Predictor-LimA maps environmental noise using coloured contours that can be overlaid on 3D models, photographic images, or online maps, making it easy for non-experts to understand.

The new software has improved functionality and workflow support to make environmental noise mapping much simpler. It’s suitable for modelling shooting ranges due to 3D source directivity, which is necessary for modelling supersonic sources.

New Digital Controllers for General Application

altWIKA (Germany) has now completed its portfolio of temperature controllers with two digital instruments for simple thermostat applications: The model SC58 and model SC64 close the gaps in this segment between mechanical products and complex PID instruments.

The new digital controllers are designed for a measuring range of -80 to +400 °C, and can therefore be used universally. The switch hysteresis can be set via the menu, which assists the flexibility. Both two-point controllers are equally notable for their high switching accuracy and contact rating (16 A). They are easy to use and offer a highly-visible display (13 mm high characters).

Monitoring Your Compost Remotely

altTo efficiently compost waste, continuous temperature readings are required from the compost heap or windrow.

Manual data collection and risk of contamination are eliminated using a SureCross Node from Banner Engineering (Belgium), equipped with a dedicated thermocouple probe to automatically monitor the compost temperature.

Easy and Fast Analysis

altThe company MLE GmbH (Germany) provides a flexible, automated analysis system, developed for the water and environmental analysis industries. It works with standard photometric determination methods (ISO). The application of flow injection analysis (FIA) allows low reagent consumption, short analysis times and is suitable for large sample throughput (as a multi-channel system, shown in the picture) and also for smaller sample series (as single channel system).

The modular design allows the offering of customised configurations, which are adapted to the tasks of your facility and can be used in routine analysis and research laboratories.

New personal ozone monitors

altAmidst growing concern with the consequences of ground level ozone on health, and the continued failure of the UK to meet European air quality directives, Air Monitors, a specialist instrumentation company, has launched a new portable UV-based ozone monitor which significantly enhances the ability to measure the air that people breathe.

The handheld Personal Ozone Monitor (POM) allows accurate and precise (2ppb) measurement of ambient ozone in air across a wide concentration range (2 ppb to 10 ppm). The instrument has an inbuilt display, so users can view real-time data.

TowerLight launch the first LED lighting set

VB-9 LED_chiusaTowerLight Srl who manufacture the World’s largest range of Lighting Towers are set to unveil their very latest revolutionary development in environmentally sound lighting - THE VB9-LED.

“The launch of the VB9-LED lighting is one of our most important developments and we are proud to be right at the forefront in this exciting lighting evolution,” said Andrea Fontanella, TowerLight’s production manager. “The VB9-LED lighting tower is already with a leading UK rental organisation as part of their programme to introduce environmentally biased equipment in to their fleet”, added Andrea.
